The article “A Bid to Keep Youths out of Adult Prisons” caught my eye today, especially after reading “Brownies” By ZZ Packer. It may be far fetched for me to compare these two pieces of writing, but I found a connection. What we discovered about these young characters in Brownies is that their behavior came from their parents/ their home environment. These children were hateful and mean, and had a very negative outlook on life. These children were acting out of ignorance. Back to the article, the connection i made with these stories was that children do things out of learned behavior. I am not saying they shouldn’t  be punished for the crimes they commit, But they are still youths and should not be placed in a prison with adults. This is not fair and clearly is not effective because these children are committing suicide in these adult prisons.
